What if instead of being on the brink of disaster, we’re on the cusp of a better world? No one can deny the challenges the world faces, from pandemics to climate change to authoritarianism. But pessimism and despair are too easy a response. Each week, Progress Network Founder Zachary Karabell and Executive Director Emma Varvaloucas convene a diverse panel of experts to discuss the central issues of our era, including sustainability, polarization, work, and the economy, and make the case for ...

Send your thoughts, feelings, opinions and suggestions to 0892096423! As you'll have heard across many episodes of the podcast, I am very passionate about the wellbeing of Ireland's children and our responsibility to ensure that we appropriately care for the most vulnerable of them. This obviously includes the thousands of children growing up in emergency accommodation across the country, as month after month homelessness figures rise. When I learned about the work Sinéad Ryan is doing to give children in emergency accommodation the chance to move and play in a way that isn't often offered to them, I was desperate to learn more. The result of that is today's conversation about her business Little Fitness and how vital it is that all children have the opportunity to flourish. Send your thoughts, feelings, opinions and suggestions to 0892096423! This Friday's catch up is with Aoife Commins, whose HIV advocacy I have admired for quite some time. Despite the fact that in 2023 the number of women being diagnosed with HIV in Ireland was reported to have doubled since 2019, it's still rare for a woman to share a positive diagnosis. Unfortunately, the stigma around HIV still exists, even though medication now means that a positive diagnosis doesn't need to have a big impact on your life. In this episode you'll hear Aoife's story, how her diagnosis has (and hasn't) impacted her life, and why it's important to get tested. Send your thoughts, feelings, opinions and suggestions to 0892096423! This week's Friday guest is Dr. Caroline West, who is the author of Wrong Women: Selling Sex in Monto, Dublin's Forgotten Red Light District which is out now. I loved this book, which is a fascinating look into the women who ran Monto and the reality of life for women working within it. Caroline is a great guest, and I loved learning about this part of Dublin's history and how it connects to so many different areas of Irish life both then and now. Also includes me complaining about MAFS Australia being too much of a commitment because it's three hours a week while speaking on my podcast which is... three hours a week. The self awareness is... lacking. To support the podcast and access bonus episodes, join the community on Patreon here . Theme Song: HowDoILook, Pillow Queens Hosted on Acast. Send your thoughts, feelings, opinions and suggestions to 0892096423! Zahra Legris is a psychiatrist who recently arrived back to Dublin after spending two months in the south of Gaza working as a mental health activity manager for MSF, a charity which brings medical support to people in conflict zones, natural disasters and epidemics. I was so grateful to her for speaking to me this week about her work and some of the people she met in Gaza, as well as the long term impact of living in the midst of true horror. Send your thoughts, feelings, opinions and suggestions to 0892096423! We’ve talked a lot on the pod about racism and discrimination in Ireland and how we can combat it, and that conversation feels particularly valid again with Donald trump in office doing his best to destroy any policies that amplify diversity and inclusion. Fortunately, this week’s guest is someone who has made understanding and combatting prejudice her career. Mamobo Ogoro is a social psychologist and founder and CEO of Gorm Media , a social enterprise which aims to unify across differences through intercultural media and education. I loved chatting with her this week about how we can confront prejudice and make Ireland a more united place, and I hope you enjoy it too. Theme Song: HowDoILook, Pillow Queens Hosted on Acast.
