In the seedy port town of Culcatar, Pazrael's hunt for the ancient tablet leads him to the Broken Compass tavern, where pirates and smugglers trade in secrets as dark as their souls.
But when a ghost ship crashes into the beach, its crew driven to murderous madness, Pazrael discovers he's not the only one on this mysterious quest.
Enter Krumpet Van Tonder, a heavily tattooed dwarf with his own score to settle.
Both summoned by the enigmatic "smoke man," these unlikely allies must now decide if they can trust each other – or if some bargains are too good to be true.
