Oscar explains how the FCN is there to help support farmers and talks about the different resources they have available for farmers. The first topic is about prospects for the upcoming harvest. Next, Andrew shares some of his favourite stories from the grain trade. Andrew debates the things farmers can do to persuade the government to change their agricultural policies while also keeping the general public on the farmers side. 1930’s Germany gets mentioned? Andrew gets Harry to enlighten the audience on the thrilling topic of podcast production and distribution. To finish off the boys share some of their stories from the early days of their agricultural careers. #FarmingAintEasy Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.…

The team reiterates one of the core messages of what Josh is working on. Don’t give your data away for free! Ben moves the conversation on to discuss the topic of Trumps tariffs and what role they might play in the future of agriculture. Of course, there had to be some Trump talk due to his volatile nature! Webby catches Joe out for not being devout listener of the podcast. Criminal! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.…
In this week’s episode Andrew is joined by Webby to discuss the dynamics of the 2024 harvest. Andrew justifies his reasoning for his recent opinions of the market, stating that there is going to be a surplus that cannot be carried and that there is no option to export as we are not competitive. This means the most likely direction for old crop UK wheat is to go down in value. Andrew talks about the inequalities in farm subsidies between European and UK farmers. The duo goes over some world wheat carry over stock statistics. They speculate over the conditions of crops around the world and what it could mean for the upcoming marketing season. Hosted on Acast. In this week’s episode, Andrew is joined by Ben, Webby and Josh. They start by discussing the forthcoming Dewing Grain seminar. Next, they move on to discuss the fundamentals of the current market conditions. Webby mentions one of his many fetishes. Any guesses what it is? The boys talk about Elon Musk’s interesting behaviour at Trumps inauguration and Webby wonders if he should start taking the same performance enhancing drugs while he works. To come full circle, Josh talks about the things farmers could be doing to demonstrate that the governments scientific approach to the effect farming has on the climate is flawed and skewed. The team, who have done extensive research into the topic, argue that farmers are actually a crucial part of the fight against climate change and they need to make it clear to everyone through scientific proof. On this week’s podcast, Andrew is joined by Josh to discuss the exhausted topic of regenerative farming and the forthcoming farmers meeting. Andrew & Josh debate whether the current ways of monitoring sequestration data are more than box ticking exercises and if it would actually be possible to get reliable, auditable data. Josh argues that attaining proof that farming procedures create carbon sequestration, could change the narrative for beleaguered farmers. More importantly proof of carbon negative crops can be monetised. The Dewing Grain meeting will take place on the 3/02/2024 and will feature some guest speakers on the topic of helping to change the narrative and the future opportunities for the industry. If you are interested in attending, please email us at info@dewinggrain.co.uk The next podcast walk will take place at midday on December 17th. The What3Words are zone.rinse.detail. Hosted on Acast. Clare talks in depth about the new tax rules which are taking effect in April 2026 and discusses possible ways to minimise the financial impact of the new inheritance tax rules, such as insurance. Isobelle and Clare both suggest that farmers should take a breath (and seek professional advice) before making any big decisions about their succession planning.
