Finally, the City of McAllen and Boys and Girls Club of McAllen host the Pony International World Series with more than 1,200 athletes from around the World.

The City of McAllen hosted the event in January with more than 12,000 runners and spectators in this year’s race. For the 11th year, there were more than 5,000 runners registered for the marathon, half marathon, relay marathon, 10K run, or 5K run. McAllen Independent School District had more than 5,000 students participating in the McAllen Kids Marathon. There is also a heartwarming story about a young man with special needs who rides his wheelchair while his runner pushes him throughout the marathon course. His team of supporters are called “Team Tony” meet his family that supports him from start to finish at the McAllen Marathon. The success of the McAllen Marathon is driven by community support. The City of McAllen would like to thank all the sponsors who make this event memorable and one of a kind in the Rio Grande Valley.…
