When we were children we believed pretty much everything that people told us. Characters like Superman were more than figments of our imagination, they were real to us. As we got older we discovered that they were just actors playing a role in a film. But believing in their existence gave us a hope that a superhero could come and save us from any vicious villain. Maybe this is what happens with the believer. We begin our journey with innocent faith much like a child. We believe any and everything that God shows us or tells us. But then life has a way of blinding us to that innocence and compels us to lean on our own understanding.
