Season 2, Episode 17: Why I’m Trading Contracts for Code with Ryan Finn
Manage episode 299488186 series 2967955
Ryan Finn is an attorney turned technologist working at the intersection of people/process/tech innovation. He loves contracts—especially those that facilitate strategic business growth and currently works in the field of Contracts & Risk Management for Boeing. He has negotiated hundreds of commercial agreements, including numerous complex technology transactions and cloud-based, hybrid software offerings from OEMs and resellers.
Ryan has also helped many startups through formation and financing. His favorite current projects include: -Software Procurement (100+ Enterprise Terms and Conditions Contract Negotiations) - No-code self-help contracting tools (applicable agreement creator and interactive negotiation support tool) -Clause Library (Constructed Back-end database of provisions built on Transaction Attributes & Use-Case Logic to support automated contract creation and negotiation deviations based on enterprise risk profile) -Contract Governance (Template management)
The exchange of goods and services between people and companies has always been governed by laws and contracts—with lawyers as the intermediaries. The limitations of these mechanisms to quickly, efficiently, and intelligently govern our economic and financial exchanges has reached their limit. More and more we see evidence of a future of law and contracts as code! Software provides efficient mediums of exchange: cost-effective, scalable, and data-driven computational law to the benefits of clients. There will be winners and losers in this new system, but mostly, a much different set of rules.
