Episode 7: Al Quackenbush The SoCal Bowhunter Part 1
Manage episode 298176475 series 2928914
Pro Staffer and longtime friend of HHA Sports Al Quackenbush, AKA The SoCal Bowhunter, had never met company co-owner Chris Hamm until recently. Making the trip from California to Wisconsin for Mission 13 of the 2021 HHAUSA Veterans Archery Shoot Tour, Al got to experience his first ever 3D event. He wasn't disappointed and shared a memorable weekend with Chris, members of the Team 22 squad and 5-Time UFC Champion Tim Sylvia. Quackenbush talks at length about the impact of the weekend and what is was like to spend a day on the range with an amazing group of Veterans who served our country. He also tells us about the origin of The SoCal Bowhunter and his lifelong passion for the outdoors.
While not a Veteran or First Responder, Quackenbush delves into his own personal struggles with PTSD as an attendee at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival shooting in October of 2017. In what quickly became the first of a two part podcast, Al details how things unfolded for he and his wife Kymberli that evening and how God's hand was on him and the group that he helped lead to safety. We also begin the conversation of Al's desire to use that life changing night and his love of archery to introduce others to the sport as a means of therapy to combat trauma.
