On this episode of Pilsners & Politics, Benjamin and Vinny sit down with a familiar face, Tiffany, to discuss the guilty verdict handed down in what was perhaps the most polarizing trial of our time; the trial of Derek Chauvin. Tiffany sheds some light on the legal process moving forward as this case is likely heading toward appeal. What is the appeals process and on what grounds can they appeal? Can this case be taken to the US Supreme Court or has one with a similar fact pattern already been ruled on? Tiffany answers these questions and more!
Benjamin, Vinny and Tiffany also discuss some of the pivotal points in the trial and wonder if Derek Chauvin ever had a chance at a fair trial to begin with. How big of a role did the media play in the overall outcome? Was due process given to Derek Chauvin in this case or had the media found him guilty before weighing the evidence available?
