The widely accepted version of the history of the United States is filled with lies, half-truths, and complete fabrications in order to justify the heinous acts carried out on the indigenous population of this continent. Native mascots do not honor or "pay respects" to the indigenous population because the very foundation used to justify their continued use is based on an almost entirely false narrative. Removing Native mascots is not about erasing history.
