The game is about to change.
According to Scholaroo.com, considering students in states across the U.S., Arizona ranks 47th for the least educated students, 38th for educational attainment, 48th for school quality and 48th in the number of colleges/universities per 100,000 adults. In order to change these statistics and give meaningful educational opportunities to all students in the state, Arizona voters need to recognize that we cannot continue to solely fund the archaic, ideologically-bankrupt systems that produced the numbers in the first place. Rather, we need to fund students and position parents to make independently informed decisions regarding the needs of their students and allow for a free and open education market to make course corrections.

Generally speaking in economic terms, authentic competition within the markets fuels innovation, price reduction, and increased standards of service. The same market forces come into play in the field of education. Some call this "school choice" but I prefer to term it "parental choice" or "educational freedom". The expansion of options that are available to families to meet the educational needs of their children--charter schools, online schools, home schooling, and private schools in addition to publicly-funded government-operated schools--means that across each of these school types, quality and service go up and prices go down.
Quite literally, this is on the verge of happening. And, in today's Kingdom Culture Conversation, Sally Henry (of ASTOA and ACSTO) helps to answer the pressing questions: Will Universal ESA's happen? Can we use both ESA's and STO's? How do we know which works best for our family?
