María Concepción “Concha”Ortiz y Pino de Kleven (1910 –2006) was a champion of women’s right. Concha served under five U.S. Presidential administrations: Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, and Carter that appointed her to national boards that fought for the handicapped, the humanities and the arts. In the 1940s she became the "boss lady" of her family's 100,000-acre Agua Verde Ranch, which at the time, was one of the biggest ranching commercial enterprises in the state. Her descendants were part of New Mexico’s founding families.
