Today, Libby Znaimer is joined by Jennifer Dundas, a descendant of Henry Dundas and Dr. Patrice Dutil, a professor in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at Ryerson University. This week, the City of Toronto went a step closer in its plans to rename Dundas Street as the executive committee voted unanimously in favour of a report that recommends the change. Jennifer Dundas weighs in on the debate and Dr. Dutil provides historical and political context to the story. Later, Libby Znaimer is joined by NDP MPP France Glinas (Nickel-Belt) who is the critic for health, and Natalie Mehra, Executive Director of the Ontario Health Coalition to discuss news that the Ontario NDP says they would commit to a Caregiver Benefit Program. Andrea Horwath, the NDP leader, was in the Bay of Quinte yesterday to make the announcement. We explore the details and discuss the need to improve home care as an alternative to long-term care. And, speaking of long-term care, certain restrictions have eased including allowing people who are fully vaccinated to make close contact with residents at homes. We also know that residents can have up to ten visitors in an outdoor setting and all residents can have two general visitors and two caregivers for an indoor visit at the same time. Our guests weigh in on the latest. Finally, Libby Znaimer is joined by Jan De Silva, CEO and President of the Toronto Region Board of Trade. The Toronto Region Board of Trade has partnered with the City to launch the new playbooks campaign. It's all part of an effort to have people return to office towers, restaurants and shops in the downtown core. Jan details what the framework for this plan is and the strategies being implemented to ensure the transition can be made smoothly and safely.
