Ed & Al head to their hometown to get Ed’s automail repaired. At a stop along the way, Armstrong notices a familiar face—a state alchemist who’s been in hiding. The boys take the opportunity to talk to the medical alchemy expert about his research. Though he regrets his work, he points the boys in the direction of where to find his notes. It’s a race against time though, as another familiar face learns about the whereabouts of the research as well…
Once in Resembool, Ed, Al, and Armstrong stay with longtime family friends and automail mechanics Winry and Pinako Rockbell, and more is revealed about Ed and Al’s past.
