But he’s best known for his work with Frank Oz bringing Yoda to life in The Empire Strikes Back, and as Jabba the Hutt’s Chief Puppeteer in Return of the Jedi.

David Barclay joins us to talk about his chance meeting with Mark Hamill that started his career, his experiences on the set of Star Wars, getting to know and work with Jim Henson, and his new book My Life With Animatronics: Movies, Puppets, and Beyond.

He has worked on over thirty movies and fifty TV shows, created animatronics for the world's leading theme parks and produced his own TV shows and movies, giving him a unique insight into the film industry from decades of hands-on interaction. His journey is one of luck and fortitude, supported by his passion for puppetry and combined with a desire to always push the envelope in what's possible for performance animatronics.
