Ali Mourad is a candidate running in South Lebanon's third district (Marjaayoun, Nabatieh, Hasbaya & Bint Jbeil). Ali is the first guest this season who has extensive knowledge about how the legislative process actually works, having studied law and teaching for over a decade in France before coming back to Lebanon to stay.
Ali was born during the Israeli occupation of Souther Lebanon in 1981 and only reconnected with his hometown on the border after the 2000 Liberation of the South from occupation. An early believer in what the October 17 movement represents, Ali's leftist background makes for a very interesting take on Hezbollah and its current situation, his thoughts on the elections, the flaws in the Lebanese political legislative system.
What struck me the most, is Ali's reliance on well though-out plans that could and should work in Lebanon, instead of only characterizing the problem and complaining about. His district is also one of the few across Lebanon that were able to mount a truly broad coalition that was able to set aside their ideological differences to focus on the common goal.
