Sharyn Casey is one of New Zealand's best-known and most-loved broadcasters. A few months ago, she pulled the curtain down on a near 20-year career at The Edge radio station - and this is her first interview since stepping away. In this episode we talk about why she left and what’s next, her best and worst moments on air, that time she dropped a c-bomb on live TV, teenage gangster Sharyn from Timaru, panic attacks while hosting Dancing with the Stars, Will Ferrell, Guy Williams, The Trainee Sexologist with Morgan Penn, and her journey to wellness through her Better Me (Hopefully) podcast. Sharyn is a blast and this was such a fun chat filled with laughs and depth. She is a bucketful of energy in the best possible way. Greg Foran is the CEO of Air New Zealand – and one of the country’s most successful businessmen. Greg started his career as a shelf-stacker in a Hamilton supermarket. By the age of 20 he was a Woolworths manager and by 48 he was on track to be the next CEO of Woolworths Australia – but was overlooked for the top job. He pivoted to America via China where he started working his way up the Walmart ladder and in 2014 became the CEO of Walmart US. As CEO of Walmart US – Greg had 1.5 million staff, 4,600 stores across the country and an annual GDP of 300 billion. This was a Kiwi running America’s biggest retailer. Then in 2020, Greg left Walmart to move home to New Zealand and took the top job at Air New Zealand… just days before Covid-19 started grounding flights. This was a fascinating chat – and we think you’ll quickly be able to see why Greg has had the career he’s had. Clayton McMillan is head coach of the Chiefs and widely respected as one of New Zealand’s very best rugby coaches. In this episode we talk about Clayton’s unconventional upbringing, why he became a police officer, and why he left the force, his rugby career, his coaching career – and his path to the Chiefs job. The second half of this one is packed full of world class coaching and leadership wisdom. We talk about what was happening behind the scenes at the Chiefs when he took over in 2021, his relationship with Warren Gatland, how Clayton built culture, and transformed the team in 12 months. We also discuss his All Blacks coaching aspirations, balance and family and the future of rugby. This was a really cool and special chat. Clayton doesn’t do interviews like this; he’s a very private guy – and we felt incredibly privileged to share so much of his time and space. Joe Daymond is one of New Zealand’s best and funniest comedians who shot to fame during lockdown with his snackable social media vids. He’s now an award-winning comedian, actor, director and producer who has sold out national tours across both New Zealand & Australia. In this episode we talk about his fast rise through the NZ comedy scene, why he lived out of his car for months, becoming the youngest Kiwi comedian to sell-out Sky City Theatre – and why it may have happened too quickly, dealing with success, coping with criticism, performing with Theo Von and meeting Dave Chappelle, finding balance at home and what the future looks like. Joe is hilarious, but he also has incredible depth. This conversation was a ripper, full of thoughtfulness and laughs. Joe also looks a lot like Seamus – and as this one progresses you’ll see more and more about how eerily similar they are. Two beautiful men – it’s good stuff. Strap in for this one, because Dr. Alia Bojilova is one of the most impressive guests we’ve had on the show. She moved to New Zealand from Bulgaria as a 17-year-old who didn’t speak a word of English but soon became the lead psychologist for the New Zealand SAS. After leaving the military she embarked on a PhD, focusing on the concept of resilience and is now a world leader in the field, working with some of the biggest names, companies and athletes in the world. In 2013, Alia was working as a United Nations military observer in Syria when she and two colleagues were kidnapped by rebel fighters, held at gunpoint and told they were going to be decapitated on camera. In this chat Alia explains why she and her colleagues were held hostage, how they managed to negotiate their release using the skills she’d developed with the SAS. Alia is also married to former guest Jamie Pennell – who you might remember from our episode last year – as the SAS solider who won NZ’s second highest military honor – the Gallantry Star. This was such an epic chat, and Alia’s story, her insight and the way she holds herself – will blow you away. We're also stoked to tell you about the business we've built. Welcome to the latest episode of Accidental Business Owners. This is a show we ran last year on our Business in Between channel – but this year we’re bringing it onto our main feed. The premise of the show is that last year Steve and Seamus became fulltime business owners. We left our 9-5s to go all in on Between Two Beers – and thought it would be interesting to document our journey. Last year we started working with a business and mindset coach Di Foster, who you might remember as a guest on the podcast and quickly realized she was the perfect foil to help them work through all the highs and lows of being a business owner. We recorded 12 episodes of Accidental Business Owners – and this was our last recording of 2024. It was recorded on a Saturday morning in mid-December – the day after a half-day strategic meeting with Di and our accountant Matt Hinton - at the end after our busiest week of the year. So it’s fair to say tensions and emotions were delicately poised – as we tried to chart a path to success in 2025 across our podcast, B2B Speakers and B2B Reflections . This episode is a bit of a ride, and pretty raw, but we’re really excited to show more of what’s happening behind the scenes with us in 2025. Hang in there for Di’s big serve at the end, when she thought the mics were off. Enjoy. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.…

Sean Fitzpatrick is recognized as one of the greatest All Blacks of all time. He was capped 92 times by New Zealand, 51 of those as captain, is a World Cup winner, and a key member of one of the best rugby teams ever. But Sean is more than just the sum of his rugby achievements. After rugby retirement, at the age of 40, he moved his family to the UK – and has been there since. He’s now the Chairman of the Laureus World Sport Academy and the stories he tells in this one of what his job is, the sporting superstars he now calls friends – and how he’s helping make an impact on the world – will blow you away. In this one we talk leadership, business lessons, revolutionizing captaincy, Nelson Mandela, Jonah Lomu the future of rugby and so much more. We loved spending time with Fitzy and left inspired by his approach and outlook on life and his work ethic. We're also stoked to tell you about the business we've built. For over 20 years Cassie held high-flying marketing roles at big-name businesses including Air New Zealand, ANZ Bank, The Warehouse Group, Mighty River Power and NZME (New Zealand’s leading newspaper, radio, and digital media corporation). We kick off Between Two Beers in 2025 by re-releasing one of our favourite episodes of 2024 - with Mark Stafford. This ep is really special. There's just so much goodness in here. Staffy is a radio host, who is best known as the former face of the TAB, where he spent two decades as a bookmaker and broadcaster. But what's not so well-known is his roller-coaster ride through life with all its twists and turns. In this episode we talk about how he died in a car accident, before being brought back to life, beating cancer, getting diagnosed with MS and found his way to the TAB. He shares his best match-fixing stories, we talk about the legend of Steel Balls and all the most incredible yarns from being NZ's premier oddsmaker. We also talk about the devastating year of 2020, where he lost his job, his sister and his best friend in a short period of time. How he built himself back up, the friendships and lessons he leaned on and his reflections towards the end of this one - make it one of the greats. Staffy is such a lovely bloke, who's been through it all. He was incredibly candid and raw in this chat, and when you mix that up with being one of the best storytellers in NZ, made it one of our favs. We're also super stoked to have Staffy on the books of B2B Speakers, so if you’d like him to MC your night, or share his story at your function or event, flick us a message by going to www.b2bspeakers.co.nz .
