In this episode, we discussed about the side effects Ayurvedic medicine. One of the categories of Ayurvedic medicines has been named as ‘Swasthavritta’, the sphere of health which includes herbal remedies like ‘Triphla’ which as per Ayurveda, can be taken for years in a prescribed quantity without worrying about any serious side effects. However, there are other category of herbs under ‘Dhatu Pradashanam’ like Haritaki which is useful for digestion but if taken for longer period can harm the body. There are a lot of alcohol based Ayurvedic medicines as well which can also be harmful if over consumed. It is extremely important to understand the ingredients before taking any Ayurvedic medicine and should be consumed only after consulting a physician.
