×This Devotional address with Jenifer Craner was delivered on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 11:30 AM MST in the BYU-Idaho I-Center. Jenifer Craner began working at BYU-Idaho in 2013 as the IT Office Assistant. In 2018, she moved to the Human Resources department and currently fills the position of HR Coordinator for Temporary Employment. Jenifer has been married for almost 31 years to Cary Craner, who also works at BYU-Idaho. Jenifer and her husband enjoy living in the country and raising their family. They have four children, as well as two grandsons and two granddaughters. Jenifer loves music and enjoys playing the piano. Her other hobbies include cooking, trying new recipes, and doing gel nails for family, friends, and herself. Above all, she enjoys quality time spent with her family around the dinner table. Jenifer has served in Primary as music leader and pianist, in the Relief Society presidency, and nearly all Young Women callings. She currently serves as the Young Women secretary.…

This Devotional address with Jim Lawrence was delivered on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 11:30 AM MST in the BYU-Idaho I-Center. Jim grew up in Tooele, Utah, and served in the Canada Calgary Mission. He attended Utah State University and earned a bachelor of science in civil engineering. Jim worked for Utah Department of Transportation for six years before taking a position as the Director of Engineering for Tooele County. He attended Texas A&M University where he earned a master of science and a PhD in civil engineering, studying aging in asphalt pavements. Jim came to BYU-Idaho in 2012 when he came to help start the Civil Engineering program. He has loved his time here and thoroughly enjoys working with the students. Jim is married to Melinda Small Lawrence, and they have four sons and a daughter-in-law. He currently serves as the elders quorum president and hopes to someday serve in the Primary. In his spare time, Jim enjoys fly fishing, hiking, backpacking, and spending time outdoors. In the winter, however, he only enjoys the outdoors when he’s plowing the driveways in his neighborhood on his four-wheeler.…

Sister Homer was born in Seattle, Washington, to Howard Eugene and JoyeAnn Shurtleff Dransfield. Sister Homer met her husband after graduating from Brigham Young University and while working in Salt Lake City and attending the University of Utah. Elder and Sister Homer were married on July 31, 1984, in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of six children and currently have nine grandchildren. Sister Homer has served as an early-morning seminary teacher, ward Young Women president, ward Primary president, ward Relief Society president, and in various other positions.…

This Devotional address with Elder David P. Homer was delivered on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 11:45 AM MST in the BYU-Idaho I-Center. Elder Homer was sustained as a General Authority Seventy on March 31, 2018. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a member of the Third Quorum of the Seventy in the Europe Area. He previously served as a member of the Sixth Quorum of the Seventy in the North America Northeast Area from 2013 to 2014. Elder Homer currently serves as a member of the Seventy with assignments at Church headquarters in Salt Lake City. He has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the China Hong Kong Mission, bishop, stake president, and regional welfare chairman. Elder Homer received a bachelor of science degree in economics from the University of Utah in 1985. In 1987 he received a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Pennsylvania. For 31 years he worked at General Mills, Inc., including assignments in the United States, Latin America, Australasia, Canada, and Europe. When he retired, he was CEO of Cereal Partners Worldwide, a global joint venture between General Mills and Nestlé S.A. David Paul Homer was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 25, 1961.…
This Devotional address with Elder Kevin G. Brown was delivered on May 13, 2025, at 11:30 AM MST in the BYU-Idaho I-Center. Elder Kevin G. Brown was sustained as a General Authority Seventy on April 5, 2025. At the time of his call, he had been serving as an Area Seventy in the Utah Area. Elder Brown received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Technology, Jamaica, in 2008. He received a master’s degree in governance and public policy from the University of the West Indies in 2012. Since 2001, he has worked for the Church’s Seminaries and Institutes of Religion. Elder Brown has been married for 26 years to the love of his life, Nadine. Together, they have been blessed with five wonderful kids. Cindy Goodwill is the Worldwide Online Curriculum and Instruction Director at BYU-Idaho and also teaches a math class as an adjunct—just for fun. A native Californian and longtime Upstate New Yorker, she moved to Rexburg in 2018 with her husband, Tim, and their six children. Cindy holds a bachelor’s degree in physics teaching from BYU and a master's degree in educational technology from Boise State. She served a Tagalog-speaking mission in the Philippines. Cindy loves making and eating cake, and she enjoys traveling whenever she can. Her superpowers include asking thoughtful questions, loving her children fiercely, and organizing just about anything. Elder Ulisses Soares was sustained as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on March 31, 2018. Elder Soares was born in São Paulo, Brazil, on October 2, 1958. He married Rosana Fernandes in October 1982. They are the parents of three children and five grandchildren. Elder Soares received a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting and economics from the São Paulo Pontifical Catholic University, School of Economic Science in 1985 and later received a Master of Business Administration degree. Elder Soares has served in a number of Church callings, including as a full-time missionary in the Brazil Rio de Janeiro Mission, elders quorum president, counselor in a bishopric, high councilor, stake executive secretary, regional welfare agent, stake president and president of the Portugal Porto Mission. Prior to his call to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Elder Soares had been serving as a General Authority Seventy since April 2, 2005. He was named a member of the Presidency of the Seventy on January 6, 2013. He served previously as a counselor in the Africa Southeast Area, President of the Brazil Area and as a counselor in the Brazil South Area. He was an accountant and auditor for multinational corporations in Brazil and director for temporal affairs in the Church area office in São Paulo, Brazil. At the time of his call as a General Authority, he was serving on a special assignment for the Presiding Bishopric of the Church in Salt Lake City.…

Alvin F. Meredith III became the 18th president of Brigham Young University-Idaho on August 1, 2023. He was sustained as a General Authority Seventy on April 3, 2021, and continues to serve in that role today. Prior to his call as a General Authority, President Meredith served as president of the Utah Salt Lake City South Mission. He also served as an Area Seventy in the North America Southeast and Asia Areas, and in a number of other Church callings, including as a full-time missionary in the Utah Salt Lake City Mission. In his professional career, President Meredith worked as a senior executive of Asurion in Tennessee, Hong Kong, and Singapore. He also worked for The Boston Consulting Group and GE Capital. President Meredith earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.…

This Devotional address with Scott Burton was delivered on March 25th at 11:30 AM MST in the BYU-Idaho I-Center. Scott Burton is a computer science faculty member and the program director of the online software development program offered through BYU-Pathway Worldwide. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Brigham Young University, where his research combined machine learning and health science. Scott also earned a master’s degree from Utah State University, a bachelor’s degree from BYU, and an associate degree from Snow College. Prior to his time at BYU-Idaho, he worked as a software engineer, where he led teams in developing custom software and web applications for clients. In addition to his work in computer science, Scott enjoys running, cycling, and hiking. He has served in the Church in a number of capacities, including many years with the young men in the Aaronic Priesthood quorums. His favorite calling has been teaching the Sunbeams with his wife. Alvarado was sustained as a General Authority Seventy on April 6, 2019, at age 48. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a high councilor. He has served as a counselor in the Caribbean Area Presidency and is currently serving at Church Headquarters in various councils and committees. Elder Alvarado has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Florida Tampa Mission, ward mission leader, branch president, district council member, mission executive secretary, stake president, Area Seventy in the North America Southeast and Caribbean Areas, president of the Puerto Rico San Juan Mission, and counselor in a bishopric. This Devotional address with Elder David A. and Sister Susan K. Bednar was delivered on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 5:00 PM MST in the BYU-Idaho I-Center. David A. Bednar was ordained and set apart as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on October 7, 2004. Prior to his call, Elder Bednar served as an Area Authority Seventy, as an Area Authority, as a Regional Representative, twice as a stake president, and as a bishop. Elder Bednar was born on June 15, 1952, in Oakland, California. He served as a full-time missionary in Southern Germany and then attended Brigham Young University, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He also received a doctoral degree in organizational behavior from Purdue University. After completing his education, Elder Bednar was a professor of business management at Texas Tech University and at the University of Arkansas. He then served as the president of BYU-Idaho from 1997-2004. Elder and Sister Bednar were married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 20, 1975, and they are the parents of three sons. Susan Kae Robinson Bednar was born and reared in Afton, Wyoming. She is the daughter of Kay and Nyla Clement Robinson. Sister Bednar graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She taught first grade for two years and was involved with institutions of higher education with her husband at Texas Tech University, the University of Arkansas, and BYU-Idaho. In the Church Sister Bednar has served as Primary president, Primary chorister, Young Women president, Gospel Doctrine teacher, and ward organist.…

This University Forum address with Melissa Russell was delivered on March 6, 2025, at 11:30 AM MST in the Taylor Chapel. Melissa Russell is a dedicated faculty member in the Department of Human Performance and Recreation and an Associate Dean of Student Success in the Office of Academic Support and Interdisciplinary Studies. Melissa currently teaches in the Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Management, and Interdisciplinary Studies programs. She has previously enjoyed teaching at institutions such as Brigham Young University, Florida International University, and Grambling State University. She has a deep love for her students and their success. Passionate about mental health, Melissa is committed to enhancing well-being through education and practical initiatives. She created and currently runs the Thrive mental health program on campus, which helps students navigate their mental health and find joy in life. Beyond the classroom, Melissa has years of experience helping clients with mental health in rehabilitation services. She has loved the agencies and the clients she has had the opportunity to serve. Her latest pursuit involves spearheading programs that bring therapists to orphanages internationally. This past summer, many alumni and friends joined her in offering therapeutic services at an orphanage in Ghana. In her personal life, Melissa loves sports, the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with friends and family, especially her nieces and nephews.…

This Devotional address with Elder Lance B. Wickman was delivered on March 4, 2025, at 11:30 AM MST in the BYU-Idaho I-Center. Elder Lance B. Wickman is the former General Counsel and an Emeritus General Authority of the Church. Elder Wickman served as a General Authority Seventy from April 1994 until October 2010. He served as General Counsel from January 1996 until November 2023. He attended the University of California at Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 1964. He attended law school at Stanford University, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1972. He practiced law as a trial lawyer and partner in the international law firm of Latham & Watkins in Los Angeles and San Diego until his call as a General Authority. Elder Wickman, a U.S. Army Ranger, served as an officer in the United States Army from 1964 to 1969. He served twice in Vietnam as an infantry platoon leader and as a military advisor to the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, receiving the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals, the Valorous Unit Citation and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He has held various ecclesiastical positions within the Church, including missionary in the Central British Mission, bishop, stake president and Regional Representative. He and his wife, Patricia, are parents of five children.…
