A kick in the guts and a blatant shameful attack on women. That's how critics have described changes to pay equity legislation that have been rammed through parliament. The changes put an immediate stop to more than 30 claims that are currently underway - they'll have to start over. It's also now harder to meet the threshold for an equity claim. The unemployment rate is sitting unchanged at 5.1 percent - despite warnings it might hit a near decade long high of 5.3 percent. The numbers also show some regions have seen an uptick in the number of people out of work - with Bay of Plenty, Taranaki, and Nelson, Marlborough and West Coast all seeing a rise in unemployment rates. Steroids and other performance and image enhancing drugs are becoming more common in drug checking clinics. KnowYourStuff and the New Zealand Needle Exchange programme say the amount of people bringing in steroids and similar drugs has jumped in the past two years.
