Quello del 1946 fu il primo corso di formazione tenuto in Europa da Maria Montessori, dopo il suo lungo esilio in India, durante la Seconda guerra mondiale. "Lezioni da Londra, 1946" raccoglie le lezioni, appunto, tenute a Londra sei anni prima della sua morte, in cui la famosa pedagogista parla con la saggezza di chi ha trascorso una vita a studiare non solo la prima infanzia, ma l'intero sviluppo dell'essere umano. Queste conferenze rappresentano una pietra miliare nel mondo della pedagogia, essendo diventate le basi dei corsi 3-6 dell'AMI, l'Association Montessori Internationale.
