Some people only feel at home when they're talking about video games, so where do they go when there's no more home to do so? Former hosts of Fanbyte's 99 Potions reunite on Materia Possessions, a general-gaming podcast with a RPG bent. Join Imran Khan and a rotating cast of John Warren, Nerium Strom, Natalie Flores, Andrea Shearon, Michael Higham, and Mike Williams every other week to talk about games, what we've been playing, and whatever digressions we get into. Wow, we're back! We've gone to Summer Game Fest, gotten sick (unrelated), gotten better (related), and played some video games in the meantime! This week, Imran is joined by Natalie, Nerium, and Michael Higham to talk about going to Los Angeles for what used to be E3 and now isn't, the return of the Xenoblade Minute Brought to you by Natalie, and discussion of Final Fantasy XVI from GameSpot's reviewer himself.…
We're back because we were really busy playing Tears of the Kingdom! Considering that really all we've been doing the last few weeks is playing the new Legend of Zelda game, it makes sense this week's episode will be primarily focused on that. GameSpot's Michael Higham, Fanbyte's Mike Williams, and If Your Driving's John Warren join me to talk all about what I start the conversation with calling "maybe the best game I've ever played." Minimal story spoilers, but lots of stories about things we've seen and done in the game. If you're not big on Zelda or want to save it for later, there's a small bit of PlayStation Showcase discussion starting at 1:05:15. It's like Princess Zelda says, "Link, come find me, on your favorite podcast RSS feed or app."…
*rolls* You got a 5-star podcast! Thanks to your generous contribution of Materia Possessions Bucks (MPB), you have won a podcast of the highest SSRR rarity. In this podcast, Imran, Michael, Andrea, and Mike talk about the latest gacha game from Hoyoverse, Honkai Star Rail. Andrea then talks about Roots of Pacha, which can be reductively boiled down "Stardew with cavemen." Imran and Mike also talk about Jedi Survivor and the struggle between delineating between a great game with several pain points. Now roll again for even better podcasts!…
Heh heh heh, got a selection of great gaming discussion for you here, stranger. What's that? You're not in the mood for simply running down what John, Mike, Imran, and Nere have been playing this week? Well, you're in luck! We've got diversions on sale, stranger! Ever wanted to here the group talk about the moral and ethical implications of piracy in a modern era? What about the actual end results of owning your own games? Heh heh heh. If that doesn't do it for you, we've also got talk about Resident Evil 4, Jedi Fallen Order, Baldur's Gate, and more. We got a selection of nice games to talk about, stranger.…
This week, a slightly smaller crew gets together because the universe has decided that Andrea and Natalie can never be on the same podcast. Natalie soldiers on despite this, though, and joins Imran and Michael Higham to talk hands-on impressions of Tekken 8 (in a segment we like to call Talkin' 8), Octopath Traveler II (in a segment we like to call Talktopath Traveler II), BugSnax, Vampire Survivors, Bear & Breakfast, Powerwash Simulator, and more. Of course, we also talk for a bit about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, ironically forget entirely about the Recall power, and ask the bravest question possible: is it weird to just like all the Zelda games?…
This week, John, Andrea, and Nerium listen to Imran recount his food crimes in pursuit of a Diablo IV beta code. We also talk about Sons of the Forest, Final Fantasy Theatrhythm, Octopath Traveler II, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Is it a very easy Soulslike or a very difficult one? Or does the game itself have no idea what it actually wants to be? Also, where are all the Arby's? Go to ProseKhans.com to help contribute to keeping this podcast alive.…
Materia Possessions is back after a short hiatus for people to do things like research books and play Final Fantasy XVI. In this episode, Imran, Michael Higham, Nerium Strom, and Mike Williams get together to talk about playing the newest Final Fantasy game. We also get a little choked up talking about Space for the Unbound, get fired up about Like a Dragon: Ishin, and pontificate on what Monster Hunter could learn from Wild Hearts. Go to ProseKhans.com to help contribute to keeping this podcast alive.…
Welcome to Materia Possessions! This week, Nerium, Andrea, and Imran talk about finishing Fire Emblem Engage, the Simon's Quest-ness of Infernax, Hi-Fi Rush, Magic the Gathering, Persona 3 Portable, and even a weird digression into Big Bang Theory. Why? I assure you that none of us know. The crew also covers this week's Nintendo Direct and talks a bit about how the $70 video game price is coming for us no matter what we do about it.…
It's Materia Possessions time, maybe the most popular gaming podcast in New Zealand! This week, John, Natalie, Mike Williams, and Imran get together to speak about Forspoken, engage about Fire Emblem Engage, and....season about Season. Is the clowning on Forspoken's dialogue justified? Does Fire Emblem Engage have what it takes to stand among the series' best? Could Season genuinely be a transformative experience? Listen to the podcast this week and find out! Remember, you keep this podcast going with your contributions to the Prose & Khans patreon on http://www.prosekhans.com.…
It's the first Materia Possessions of the year! New year, new you, and hopefully one of your resolutions is to listen to your favorite gaming pals talk about what games they have been playing over the holiday break. Before that, though, we have a report about the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas. Smart lawnmowers are the future, apparently!…
It's the final Materia Possessions of the year! Join Imran, Natalie, Michael P. Higham, and Mike Williams in covering a bevy of holiday games like the end of God of War: Ragnarok (minimal spoilers), Crisis Core and Final Fantasy VII Remake (slightly more spoilers), Midnight Suns, Please Be Happy, and the Forspoken Demo. We then roll through every major announcement from The Game Awards and then argue our own opinions of what should have won and some bafflement over what got nominated. Like, really, Hogwart's Legacy for Most Anticipated over Street Fighter 6? Really? Find us on your favorite podcasting network, assuming your favorite is one I have heard of and was able to put the podcast on. Happy Holidays!…
We're back! After taking a break for Thanksgiving and various life to-dos, we've returned with a gigantic two-and-a-half-hour behemoth of an episode and we somehow didn't even get to all the segments we wanted to hit. This week, John, Nerium, Andrea, and Imran run down an exhaustive list of everything we've been playing. That includes Harvestella, God of War: Ragnarok, Callisto Protocol, Marvel's Midnight Suns, and some brief digressions into why the spider from Lord of the Rings is a hot lady in Shadow of War. We're really not sure still! This is a behemoth of an episode that was recorded before The Game Awards, so we'll cover all those things next time.…
This is the third episode of Materia Possessions and most likely the last one on Patreon hosting without a RSS feed! That process has been delayed by many things, including travel and getting sick, but we should finally get rolling. This episode also features theme music for the first time from producer Jordan Mallory ( @jordan_mallory ). I gave him the instructions of "something like a SNES/PS1 JRPG title screen" and he knocked it out of the park. This week, Nerium, John, Michael, and Imran talk about Bayonetta 3, God of War Ragnarok, Sonic Frontiers, and more. Does the FFXVI excuse about racial homogeneity make sense? What's going on with Mick Gordon and the Doom Eternal soundtrack? Listen to us discuss that all in this week's Materia Possessions!…
Hey! It's the second episode of Materia Possessions! This week, we've got Nerium Strom, Andrea Shearon, Michael Higham, and I talking about the Final Fantasy XVI trailer, other podcasts that we have shouted on major platforms that are not this podcast, Gotham Knights, The Callisto Protocol, and more. Next episode in two weeks should bring a blast of professionality with different hosting, an RSS feed, and music! Probably! Until then, listen to this one on this page and enjoy!…
This is...really ramshackle! I'm sorry! But here's the first ever episode of Materia Possessions, the newest podcast from the former 99 Potions crew. You might be asking questions like, where's the RSS feed? How can I actually listen to this? And to that I have to answer: I had not adequately prepared for how to do any of that. I assumed Patreon would take care of that, but since I want these podcasts to be public and not patron-only , it does not seem like Patreon is going to give me a public RSS feed to just hand out. Which means I have to figure some other stuff out! Sorry again! But I am indeed going to start working on it and trying to figure this stuff out, so any help or suggestions are welcome. In the meantime, enjoy the inaugural episode, with John Warren, Nerium Strom, and the unbullyable Natalie Flores joining me to talk about Overwatch, tonsilectomies, Nihon Falcom games, and more. Once I get a RSS feed going, this will also be on that! Probably!!…
