When I write about myself, I tend to slip off into writing about my books. But not here! Here, I am going to tell you about me. Where do I begin? Well, books and reading have been a huge part of my life since I was very young. My mum taught me – and my siblings – to read and write when I was in nursery. As I got older, I used to go to the library every day after school to read books and I used to write short descriptive passages all the time. And, of course, I whiled away many, many hours daydreaming and creating stories in my head. At the grand old age of 13, I finally wrote my first novel called There’s A Thin Line Between Love And Hate. I used to write a chapter every night in my exercise books then pass it around to my fellow convent school pupils the next morning. They seemed to love it. I grew up in London and then grew up again in Leeds when I went to university at Trinity and All Saints College (as it was then). I later returned to London to study for my masters degree in journalism at Goldsmiths University. I had various temping jobs and eventually became a journalist and editor working on various women’s magazines and national papers. While working as a journalist, I continued to write short stories and novels in every spare moment – like on the train to and from work – as way to achieve my goal of becoming a published novelist. In 2001 I had the idea for The Cupid Effect and I signed up with my first publisher a year later. In 2003 The Cupid Effect went on sale and my career as a published novelist began. In 2006, third novel, My Best Friend’s Girl was published. It was incredibly successful – selling nearly 90,000 copies within its first few weeks. Six weeks later, it was selected for the Richard & Judy Summer Reads Book Club and the book went on to sell over 500,000 copies. Because of its huge sales, it won an award. My fourth novel, Marshmallows for Breakfast, also won an award for selling over 250,000 copies. Anyway, back to me: in 2005 I moved to Australia and spent two years living in Sydney. When I returned to England in 2007 I moved to the south coast, namely Brighton. I love living by the sea. There’s nothing like a good walk along the seafront to clear your head or to work out the knots in a plot. Those who’ve read my later books will know that a lot of them have been set in Brighton and its surrounding area, often with a good dose of Leeds and South London thrown in.…

Biography I am Cath Lloyd, TEDx speaker, author of ‘When Dad Became Joan’ and an expert in supporting those struggling to release the pain of loss and flourish through change. In 1987, my Dad made the shocking confession that he wished to become a woman. Through the years of emotional, conflicting and tormenting thought processes, I wondered if life would ever feel normal again. You see my Dad had sensed he was different from the age of 5 and spent 45 years learning how to become the expert in deception. So, when he opened up to me it was a total shock. We all have a story about coming to terms with change, whether this is transgender reassignment, separation, loss, illness, disability or living through another trauma. As we live through our story we do the best we can with the strategies we have at our disposal. Sometimes these are not enough and we have to search long and hard to find alternatives. As an adult education teacher working in male prison, I learnt how to see the other side of the story. To see the exception to the rule, that life isn’t always clear cut. Life is constantly changing sometimes for the better and some it takes time to adjust to. We have to learn how to adjust to start living our new normal. ‘When Dad Became Joan’ is my story of how, for many years, I fought against my Dad’s gender reassignment. I open my heart to show the conflicts I finally managed to conquer. The strategies I ultimately used and teach today to help other transgender families and those living with the bereavement cycle of change and loss. And you know, life will change again, but as long as you learn from the previous challenges life has thrown at you will be better prepared to find your way through the trauma and come out the other side smiling and with warmth in your heart. A major new history of Britain that will transform our understanding of this country's past. Despite the best efforts of researchers and campaigners, there remains today a steadfast tendency to reduce the history of African and Caribbean people in Britain to a simple story: it is one that begins in 1948 with the arrival of a single ship, the Empire Windrush, and continues mostly apart from a distinct British history, overlapping only on occasion amid grotesque injustice or pioneering protest. Yet, as acclaimed historian Hakim Adi demonstrates, from the very beginning, from the moment humans first stood on this rainy isle, there have been African and Caribbean men and women set at Britain's heart. Libyan legionaries patrolled Hadrian's Wall while Rome's first 'African Emperor' died in York. In Elizabethan England, 'Black Tudors' served in the land's most eminent households while intrepid African explorers helped Sir Francis Drake to circumnavigate the globe. And, as Britain became a major colonial and commercial power, it was African and Caribbean people who led the radical struggle for freedom—a struggle which raged throughout the twentieth century and continues today in Black Lives Matter campaigns. Charting a course through British history with an unobscured view of the actions of African and Caribbean people, Adi reveals how much our greatest collective achievements—universal suffrage, our victory over fascism, the forging of the NHS—owe to these men and women, and how, in understanding our history in these terms, we are more able to fully understand our present moment.…

My name is Rezna Khatun, I’m the author of the book Why I loved my abuser, The reason I wrote this book is because friends and family always ask me why I stayed in a abusive relationship for so long I wrote this book to share and bring awareness on my 25yrs of mental, emotional, physical, gaslighting, sexual, abusive relationship. Every day I would be called stupid, dumb, retard, ugly, useless, brainless, I was made to feel so worthless and powerless my inner self was a very dark, lonely, isolated place. I was so lost I was unable to think for myself I did not see a away out I gave up hope and many times I planned to take my own life. I did love my husband and I kept believing that the best will come out of him, I do believe my husband was a narcissist he was extremely manipulative, he would go to any lengths to emotionally manipulate me for me to stay with him. In the last 10 years of my relationship I was kept like a prisoner in my own house with no contact and isolated from my friends and family. Once I had my wakeup call it took me 5yrs to get the courage and strength to leave him, because he took control of my mind, spirit, heart, my believes and character. I want to bring more awareness and courage for everyone to talk about abusive behaviour. I hope and pray that maybe someone will read my book and realise there not alone and it might give them the wakeup call they need. I do speak with lots of people from all types of community who are very ignorant to domestic violence. I’m sorry to say through my experience, domestic violence egsists in every culture, religion, country, community, gender, The most powerful weapon a abuser has is to silent the victim with fear, the abuser will go to extreme lengths to achieve that control over the victim. It is important we talk to our children about abusive behaviour and we will not tolerate any types of abuse, we all need to talk and raise awareness and to put a stop to domestic violence.…

I want to thank God for giving me a second chance in life and with this opportunity I want to save someone else’s life.…
As a young girl, Elizabeth was always anticipative of an elevated future. However, the conditions of her youth provided insight and hindsight to some of the contributing factors to the cycles, which she believes creates hindrances in our growth and knowledge of self-purpose. Raised in a culturally stable home in a fairly diverse community, Elizabeth was always fascinated with the cycle of life, nature, trends and especially relationships. So it turned her world 180 degrees when a relocation that was supposed to be a fresh start became the nightmare she could never have imagined. Navigating through torture, trauma and torment, equipped with a bag full of hope and a heart full of prayers. This book tells of the journey into the mind of a female through a change of beliefs and perceptions held of and towards males. In this truthful memoir, Elizabeth Hamilton tells of her painful and, at times, harrowing life story to shed a little light on areas in our own homes where we may have unknowingly cast shadows.…
This book is a spinning off my first book, The Masks behind the Mask, and also a book of the next stage of taking your mask off. In the first book, I was letting you know that we all carry a mask where you may have not been comfortable with your imperfections of who you are behind your mask. In this book I am here to help you unpack the things we carry and hold on to that can end up destroying your relationships (with friends, associates, family or partner). We are going to take time to rebuild the person that you have hidden from the world because you were not comfortable in your own skin. We are going to get uncomfortable to get comfortable with ourselves regardless to what others think about who you are. This is the time to learn who you are and what makes you happy.…
