Welcome to Champions Church Skipton, where amazing things happen.
In this third message in our sermon series on Elijah, we see Elijah being provided for by the widow of Zarephath. Found in 1 Kings 17: 7-16, Elijah is taken care of by an unlikely hero, a destitute widow, about to die, a foreigner, in a foreign land. We see here that God is more than able to include, speak to and use those who we might consider outsiders or those who think they have little to give or contribute. Not only this but it reveals God’s grace extends far wider than we often imagine, to unnamed widows, perhaps not Christians, in foreign lands. May this message be an encouragement to you that God can use you and reveal more of God’s love and grace to others.…
In this second message of our Elijah series, we see God’s prophet move from being at the pinnacle of his career, in the seat of power to being isolated in the ‘Valley of Separation’. Often we see these times in our lives as unnecessary and unproductive and yet perhaps these times are opportunities to be shaped and prepared for what lies ahead. May this message be a real encouragement and blessing to you as you listen…
We've started a new series looking at the life of the prophet Elijah. On this first part of the message, we will look at Elijah's identity, and how he became the man brave enough to stand up to King Ahab, perhaps the most wicked ruler of his day, and declare God's curse on the nation. Maybe you think Elijah's a big man of faith, and you don't have anything in common with him. Well, listen in and you might realise that you have more in common with Elijah than you think.…
We carry on our series on How to Scale Your Everest by looking at one of the major challenges climbers face upon reaching the summit- lack of oxygen. Nick looks at Acts 1:1-11 at what it means to reach base camp and push on to the summit for us as Christians. What exactly does it mean for us to wait at base camp? and how do we know when we are mountain ready? What are the signs that we are suffering from altitude sickness? Listen and find out why we are destined for the top of the Everest that God put before us and how he has equipped us to reach it.…
Our visiting speaker Ptr. Mike Faun spins out a passionate message on Philippians 3:14, looking at how our life as Christians is more of marathon than a 100-m sprint. Listen, and be blessed.
This is part 2 of our sermon series, this time focusing on Setting Our Sights on the Summit, a call to challenge us to live lives full of vision, purpose and planning. We start by overcoming mindsets which tell us we are unable or incapable, Pastor Michael encourages us to identify what our God-given seed of vision and purpose is. Looking at a variety of scriptures revealing how not only Christ and Biblical heroes lived with vision and purpose to enable them to conquer their Everest's, but that we also need to do so in our lives. After all, mighty oak trees start out as mere acorns.…
Pastor Michael kicks off a new series of messages that deals with practical steps necessary to overcoming our greatest challenges. This first message not only introduces the series, but also tackles aspects of our attitude which when addressed, sets us up to scale our personal 'Everests'.
In this first message of 2020, Pastor Michael shares an anointed passionate message on the necessity of having a clear vision, exploring how prophetic sight is given through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, foretold in Joel’s promise of dreams, visions and prophecy, and fulfilled at the day of Pentecost. Jesus, on the road to Emmaus walked with two disciples, who had eyes but did not 'see' him until he revealed his identity to them. This message looks to the Lord to open our eyes so that time will not be wasted and we will have a sharp, effective edge to serve the Lord.…
It's Baptism Sunday! Nick spins out a message on the classic Roman(s) Road to salvation, reminding us of the ultimate sacrifice that Christ did for us on the cross. If you already know of our amazing Saviour, listen and be reminded again of how he took us from being unworthy to holy & sanctified. If you've heard of Jesus, but is not sure why you should get to know Him, maybe have a listen and we pray that this will open your eyes and help you make a decision to find out more about God.…
In this second message of our Judges sermon series Pastor Michael wrestles with the character of Gideon found in Judges chapter 6. After looking at the three things we can often do to resist the challenges in our lives, Michael moves on to look at five points: God knows what we were created to be, what offering will you bring the Lord, meeting God’s Awesome Presence Brings Peace Like No Other, God is worthy of our obedience, and our devotion impacts others. This challenging and thought provoking message would be of benefit to anyone wanting to grow in their Christian journey…
Pastor Michael explores the context of the book of Judges before digging deeper into chapter 4 and the characters of Deborah, Barak and Jael. In this standalone message, Nick explores what it means to be 'salt and light' from Matthew 5:13-16, found within Jesus’ sermon on the mount. At the outset, Nick explores well this passage’s context before diving into what Jesus is really asking for us to become if we are to be salt and light. A real treat of a message, one of Nick’s finest offerings to date. Have a listen- you’re in for a treat.…

A former teacher and missionary to South America, Stuart helps us unpack what it means to 'put off the old, and put the new nature on'.…
Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, you can run & hide away from God even for just a short time? Nick revisits an old school Sunday School favourite, looking at the story of Jonah in relation to our life's purpose & calling. We pray that you will be blessed as you listen, and challenged to live out your default calling.…
In this message Pastor Michael unpacks what being a disciple of Jesus entails. This discipleship is not living life aimlessly, but purposefully pursuing Jesus and our whole lives being devoted to becoming like him.
Why is it that we have made our commission to share our faith in Jesus so complicated and downright scary that so many of us simply don't attempt it? Sharing our faith was never meant to feel so our of reach, but just a matter of pointing people to Jesus our where he can be found. May this be an encouragement to you to share your faith in Christ where you are.…

Andy Sellers came to share on the another of Jesus' I AM sayings in the fourth gospel, this time, on "I am the Vine". Andy reminds us that Jesus ultimately wants a good life for us, despite the challenges we will face along the way, like how he prepared his disciples for the difficulties that will face them prior to His death. Andy encourages us to abide in Him, so we can bear fruit. Listen, and we pray that you will be blessed, and that you too, might bear fruit that remains.…

On Sunday, we started our #doyouknowHimn series across Skipton, an outreach where all the churches across the town follow the same preaching series but delivered in our own style. How amazing is that? In this series, we will be looking at the 7 "I am" sayings in John and Nick Smith kicks this off with John 14:46, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life". This is such a well known saying that it would be so easy to switch off, but don't, it's really great to be reminded of what Jesus was saying and what that means, whether is is real for you today, or you have never heard it before. #truth #Godsplan #lifebringers…
George Mackley tackles the relevance of having the authority of the power of God, and how we as Christians can go under His banner and put that power into practice. Listen and be blessed.
Our guest speaker David McDonald from Charleston, South Carolina takes us on a study of Ecclesiastes 3 to help us avoid the mistake of moving out of the season of God and into no-man’s land. Have a listen and “see great fruit come forth”.
Some people follow a routine, others follow a football club, while some choose to follow a football club. In this message, Andy Sellers helps us get to know who it is that we, as Christians, follow. He also highlights biblical means of how we can be better followers of Christ.
Romans is an awesome book of the Bible and chapter 12 is just full of useful guidance from Paul. But it starts with a big THEREFORE !
