Today, Rachel has just finished her second year of law school at Seattle University and begun a summer internship with the ACLU of Washington. In this episode, originally recorded in summer 2019, Nate talks about moving from Arlington, Virginia to the Pacific Northwest for college and playing Ultimate Frisbee with the Postmen, Puget Sound's men team. He and Elena also chat about the independent research he was conducting that summer. Since graduating, Nate has been working with Americorps restoring streambeds, replacing invasive plants with native ones, and creating salmon habitat all around Pierce County. In August he’ll start an Honours Program at the University of Sydney – as in, Australia! – to spend a year researching the impacts of oyster aquaculture on estuaries.
