Artificial intelligence is evolving at an unprecedented pace—what does that mean for the future of technology, venture capital, business, and even our understanding of ourselves? Award-winning journalist and writer Anil Ananthaswamy joins us for our latest episode to discuss his latest book Why Machines Learn: The Elegant Math Behind Modern AI . Anil helps us explore the journey and many breakthroughs that have propelled machine learning from simple perceptrons to the sophisticated algorithms shaping today’s AI revolution, powering GPT and other models. The discussion aims to demystify some of the underlying mathematical concepts that power modern machine learning, to help everyone grasp this technology impacting our lives–even if your last math class was in high school. Anil walks us through the power of scaling laws, the shift from training to inference optimization, and the debate among AI’s pioneers about the road to AGI—should we be concerned, or are we still missing key pieces of the puzzle? The conversation also delves into AI’s philosophical implications—could understanding how machines learn help us better understand ourselves? And what challenges remain before AI systems can truly operate with agency? If you enjoy this episode, please subscribe and leave us a review on your favorite podcast platform. Buildings have a massive impact on our lives because they are where we spend most of our lives and because of their manufacture's environmental impact. We might not see it, but buildings are composed of several moving parts whose production impacts the environment hugely, like concrete, glass, and steel. The built environment alone is responsible for 40% of global CO2 emissions, more than industry and transportation. If we look at large cities, considered the engines of economic growth, the built environment is responsible for 70% of emissions. As the world's population tendency is to keep growing, and projections estimate we'll be about 11 to 12 billion people on this planet by 2030, we must start thinking now about the sustainability of our buildings. In this episode, we chat with Glynt's Board Member Christine Erving and Glynt's CRO Chieng Moua about greening the building industry and transforming the energy we use in it. Christine was the Assistant Secretary of Energy under the Clinton administration, and the first President and CEO for the US Green Building Council responsible for developing the Lead Certification system used all over the globe today. We delve into why it is crucial to address the needs of greening the building industry, how beneficial this will be for companies and society, how innovation can help make the sector more effective, sustainable, and profitable, and more. There is a myth around the colossal sacrifice all of us must do if we want to be active and reduce emissions, but that is not true. We can do several small things to contribute to climate change without suffering. However, changing human value systems is hard unless people know how they will benefit from making those changes. In this episode, continuing our chat with Glynt's CEO & Founder Martha Amram and Glynt's CRO Chieng Moua, we talk about consumers and communities and how people can profit from their emissions data. We delve into the emissions of producing clean water, how Glynt helps people put cash in their pockets by reducing their emissions, and the best channels to provide information to the communities about their emissions. We also discuss the politicization of data and how this affects the progress of emissions reduction within the communities, Glynt's hero approach, the importance of educating people, and much more. With carbon emissions data now becoming more readily available, the new question becomes, what can I actually do with this data? Both businesses and consumers can see this data, but understanding their true impact, and more importantly, ROI for any changes that are made is a more difficult task. In this episode of the GLYNT View, CEO, Martha Amram, and CRO, Chieng Moua are joined by podcast host Syya Yasotornrat, to discuss how businesses and cities can use this new carbon emissions data to reduce their carbon footprint. This will not only make an impact on the environment, but also a direct impact to their bottom line. To find out more about GLYNT, visit: https://glynt.ai/…
Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our generation, and our time to reduce its risk is quickly slipping away. Companies are required to meet ESG requirements, but accurately tracking carbon emissions data can be a difficult process as it's labor-intensive to find and sort the data. Plus many times the solution is to add more technology, which in turn adds more stress on the environment. GLYNT solves this problem by liberating accessible data, like utility bills, and creating easy-to-use CSV and PDF files for reporting, auditors, and lenders. In addition, this provides opportunities to not just reduce carbon footprints by accurately tracking carbon emissions, but to also put money back into the pockets of consumers and corporations. In this episode of the GLYNT View, CEO, Martha Amram and CRO, Chieng Moua are joined by podcast host Syya Yasotornrat, to discuss these issues and learn more about how companies have tried to solve this in the past and what makes GLYNT's solution so unique.
