On June 25th 2025, in collaboration with Open Folk, we presented our first ever live interview event in Los Angeles. As Open Folk put it: "In These Lines is a live event where three artists each bring one song — not just to perform, but to explore. They sit down with Sofia Loporcaro, host of Before The Chorus, to talk about where the song came from, what it meant to write it, and what it still holds. Then they play it. Just the song, and the truth behind it." Before a song is released, a record is produced, or a chorus is written, the musicians that write them think. A lot. They live. A lot. And they feel. A LOT. Hosted by award-winning interviewer Sofia Loporcaro, Before the Chorus explores the genuine human experiences behind the music. Sofia’s deep knowledge of music and personal journey with mental health help her connect with artists on a meaningful level. This is a space where fans connect with artists, and listeners from all walks of life feel seen through the stories that shape the music we love. About the host: Sofia Loporcaro is an award-winning interviewer and radio host who’s spent over 8 years helping musicians share their stories. She’s hosted shows for Amazing Radio, and Transmission Roundhouse. Now on Before the Chorus, she’s had the chance to host guests like Glass Animals, Feist, Madison Cunningham, Mick Jenkins, & Ru Paul's Drag Race winner Shea Couleé. Learn more about your ad choices. Mario Kart World didn't exactly blow the guys' minds at the launch of the Switch 2. Kevin was also very skeptical about DK Bananza, while Sean was excited to get his hands on it. After the glowing reviews it received, Kevin decided to take the leap. Now both of the guys run through their thoughts on the game so far (Spoiler Alert - they BOTH love it). Other topics include beating Death Stranding 2, Superman, Mortal Kombat II's new trailer, and more! Start - 00:00 Housekeeping - 00:10 Random Musings - 4:00 We Liked Superman - 18:45 Mortal Kombat II Trailer - 35:50 Beating Death Stranding 2 - 43:00 College Football 26 - 48:45 Kevin Tried Diablo 4 - 53:10 Donkey Kong Bananza is Awesome - 54:30 Wrap-Up - 1:23:10…
Kevin's most anticipated game of the year, the game that he didn't think needed a sequel, has finally arrived in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. Unsurprisingly, however, after 30 hours with it so far, DS2 is his GOTY. Sean, of course, isn't playing it, so Kevin runs through all of his spoiler-free thoughts on Kojima's latest post-apocalyptic adventure. They also cover the infuriating situation at Xbox, including Perfect Dark's cancelation, studio shut-downs and layoffs, and the complete lack of any consequences for both Phil Spencer and Matt Booty. It's that time of year again! With E3 dead and gone, Geoff Keighley rules the summer in video games and the time has come for the guys' annual tradition of going thru their predictions, hopes, and dreams for the event! Before that though, they run thru what ended up being a very good State of Play from Sony to kick things off! Kevin had only played the demo of DOOM 2016, and tapped out mid-way through DOOM Eternal back in 2020. Despite this, he was very excited to get his hands on DOOM: The Dark Ages ever since it was first revealed. What he did not expect, though, was for it to end up his EASY Game of the Year so far in 2025. He goes deep into his thoughts after beating, and Platinuming, the game and all of his experiences across his 25+ hours of gameplay. Sean finally brought home his 100th Platinum with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which Kevin beat but won't be trying to Platinum, so the guys give their final thoughts on it, including an unintentionally hilarious final boss fight. Other topics include Superman's final trailer, TLOU Season 2's ending, and a hype check with the Switch 2 launch being only a week away. The seemingly inevitable finally happened with Rockstar officially delaying GTA 6 to May 2026. To soften the blow to all fans of video games, they did also release the 2nd trailer for the game which has the guys hype levels through the roof. We also found out that hell has officially frozen over, with the announcement that Gears of War Reloaded is hitting PS5 this August. Other topics include Xbox's massive hardware price increases, the guys seeing Metallica, & their continued journey through Indy and the Great Circle. They give their in-progress thoughts on the game as a whole, the first person viewpoint, Troy Baker's phenomenal job as Indy, and more. Before that though, they also go into FULL SPOILER MODE on the latest episode of The Last Of Us, as well as The Last Of Us Part 2. There was really no way to talk about this without full-blown spoilers for the show and the game, so be warned if you haven't watched or played either yet... Its that time of year again! News in the world of video games has slowed down after the reveal of the Switch 2, so the guys shift gears to go through their predictions for WrestleMania 41! God of War's 20th anniversary has arrived, with Sony marking the occasion with some new merch and in-game items for Ragnarok... Not much of a celebration if you ask us. However, a new report from Jeff Grubb indicates that we may actually be getting a GOW side-story set in Greece later this year! Sony stayed in control of the headlines with the surprising announcement of a new first-party studio launch named Dark Outlaw Games. The guys dig into both of these topics, along with sales results from February, Sean's quest for the perfect game to be his 100th Platinum, Kevin naming Blade Chimera his GOTY so far, and lots more. It has been a couple of weeks since the guys got together to podcast, and Kevin has been very busy playing a bunch of games in that time. He gives his thoughts on the Fatal Fury City of the Wolves Beta, his 109th Platinum, the demo for Beyond the Ice Palace 2, and his newest obsession in Blade Chimera. Sony's latest State of Play presentation was, in our eyes, a very good one! From a dope looking new 2D Shinobi game from the developerss of Streets of Rage 4, to the fantastic looking Tides of Annihilation, as well as the reveal of Housemarque's next game, and seemingly spiritual successor to Returnal, Saros, there was a lot to get excited about! However, because the internet is the internet, not everyone feels like the same, and people need to just be mad about something no matter what. Nevertheless, the guys run through everything that was covered and give their thoughts on how the show fared overall. Oh also, Sean is an idiot and couldn't figure out how to turn his mic on for the first 45 minutes that they tried to record, so they lovingly relive that for all of you to kick things off. Enjoy! Start - 00:00 Housekeeping - 00:10 Sean Couldn't Turn His Mic On...
