310 – Do you ever look God in the face? It's probably not on the top of your to-do list. It’s probably not something you think about very often or even consider as a possibility. In fact, you may not want to talk to God face to face, for a variety of reasons. And what does that even mean , to look at God this way? To talk to God this way? Doesn't the Bible say you can't see God's face? Yes it does, but it also talks about Moses and God talking face to face. This week's episode jumps into the idea of Talking to God face to face What it really means Why you don't need to be afraid of it The blessings that come when you have this kind of intimate relationship with God You can talk face to face with God at any moment for any reason. You might have something on your mind. You might feel the need to repent. You might have a question. You might just want to express gratitude and tell God you love Him. But you don’t have to have an agenda. You can just ask God what He thinks, what He sees, what He’s doing, how He loves or what He wants you to do. 309 – What’s your first thought when someone says, “You need to repent.”? Does it make you uncomfortable or uneasy? Or do you agree and admit to yourself that you do need to repent? It might depend on the context and tone of voice someone uses to say those words, but all too often it happens during a sermon that sounds like a shouting match with the preacher yelling at his audience, using fear and emotional triggers to convince them of the consequences if they don’t stop sinning. Some people are turned off by this approach and others take the message to heart and try to reform their lives. Repentance is a crucial part of being a follower of Christ, but sometimes the word is misunderstood and the full blessing of repentance is lost. 308 – Do you ever feel separated from God? Maybe because of something hurtful someone said or did to you? Or maybe because of bad choices you made that weren’t good for you or someone else? Or maybe it’s just because of all the problems the world is facing right now? Where is God in all this? Sometimes God does seem far away. In this week’s episode we’re going to talk about God’s nature as omnipresent, that God is everywhere, what that actually means, and how it affects your life. You are never separated from God or God’s love for you, which was and is manifested through Christ. You are in the presence of God, now and always. And you have the ability to be aware of this. Whenever you feel God is far away, remember this prayer of affirmation—and say it as often as you need to, "I am in the presence of God." 306 – What will it take for you to let God be in charge? Have you ever been so involved in getting something done, wanting everything to turn out just right that you put your whole heart into it but somehow you ended up having to push and shove to get things to come out the way you wanted them? And even after all that effort, things don’t always work out? Maybe you’ve even prayed about it and asked God to help you, but at the end of the day there was more of you trying to make something happen instead of letting God unfold a solution. In this week’s episode we’re going to talk about what it means to let God be in charge, to let God’s will be done instead of manipulating events to get what we want. We'll look at The difference between the way Sarai and Elizabeth trusted God How King Saul took things into his own hands instead of trusting God How King Jehoshaphat instantly trusted God when several armies came to fight him And how Jesus admitted he couldn't do anything without God's help If you have trouble letting go of the need to be in control, start with something small. Then go on to something else. Go sit out in nature, without an agenda, without trying to accomplish anything. And just take in and observe all God has done and is doing. Let God be God. 305 – The Healing Power of Being Persistent 23:24

305 – Do your prayers need to be more persistent? Have you ever been praying about something and just didn’t seem to be getting any answers? You poured your heart and soul into praying and studying the Bible, but after a while, you just couldn’t see any progress or evidence of your prayers having any effect at all. Maybe some of your friends even told you it was ridiculous to pray for whatever it was you were praying about. And so you gave up. Maybe you tried to convince yourself it just wasn’t God’s will for the thing you were praying about to happen. And frankly, sometimes that may be the case. But sometimes we give up a little too soon in our prayers. Because we haven’t gotten an answer, or the answer we want, we quit asking God to heal us or for the solution to our problem. If you’ve even found yourself with those kinds of thoughts running through mind, this episode is for you. We’re going to look at several people in the Bible of people who were persistent and didn’t give up in searching for an answer, a solution to a problem, or a healing. A preacher on social media recently warned all his listeners about how powerful the devil is and how careful you have to be not to fall into all the temptations that come to you. It seemed to me he actually was trying to scare his audience so they would listen to him and do what he said. I agree, it's important not to give in to temptations, but the question for today is: Does the devil have power over you? 303 – Who decides what it means to be a Christian? Have you ever been told by someone you’re not a Christian because you didn’t agree 100% with them on every tiny detail of theology? It’s not a great feeling. Some churches have a pretty wide and inclusive definition what it means to be a Christian, including people from many different denominations. Some churches believe they are the only ones with the truth but that God will be merciful to others. But there are a few churches who believe only their members are true Christians and everyone else is condemned to hell. Most of these groups make a fatal flaw in how they define what it means to be a Christian. 302 – Is it possible for you and me to heal like Jesus did? Have you ever struggled with a problem and reached out to God in prayer for healing and resolution, but never really felt your prayers were answered, at least not in the way people who asked Jesus for help were healed? Somehow you got through and were able to cope with the situation, but you didn’t have the kind of healing you read about in the Bible. Is it even possible for you and me to heal and be healed the way Jesus did 2,000 years ago? His disciples healed and so did his followers in the early Christian church. Why isn’t there more healing like that going on today in the church? Is there anything you and I can do to experience more of God’s healing power? 301 – What is the secret to church growth? How is your church doing these days? Are you growing? Are you holding steady? Are you barely hanging in there trying to keep the doors open? A lot of churches are struggling right now. Some are closing. Some are growing. What is it that makes a church not just survive but thrive? There are lots of factors, but what really helps a church grow, and I’m not just talking number of members, but more importantly, spiritual growth, the desire to follow Christ, spiritual vision and transformation, and love for the community. In this week’s episode, we’re going to talk about how and why the Early Church, described in the Book of Acts, grew so quickly and how it can be a model for your church to grow today. Be full of the Holy Spirit Be in the presence of the spirit of Jesus’s resurrection Understand how Jesus fulfills the Scriptures Love Jesus enough to obey his command to share his message with your neighbors Love your neighbors enough to actually share your faith with them Look for the opportunities to share that are always there Speak in a way others can understand you. When you and your church do these things, I can’t guarantee you’ll get a bunch of new members, but I can promise you there will a lot of spiritual growth in your church, and there are no limitations to what God can do when your hearts are on fire for Christ. 300 – If you could go back in time and talk to Jesus, what would you ask him? This is the question I posed to you, my listeners, several weeks ago and in today’s episode I share all your answers. I am totally blown away with the amazing responses you sent me, over 150 questions. Now, there’s an incredibly wide variety in these questions. You will see very quickly these questions come from very diverse theological perspectives. Some of them have an assumption built into them that reveals where the person asking the question is coming from. You may not agree with their assumption or their perspective, but that’s okay. They’re sharing their honest position. So instead of getting judgmental, let this be a learning experience. Hopefully, hearing all these questions will prompt more questions in your own heart. And ultimately, my hope is you’ll turn back to what Jesus said and did to get a better understanding of who Jesus is, how he thought, and how he lived, so you can follow his example. 299 – Has God put a calling on your life? Have you ever felt a calling from God on your life but just didn’t feel you were qualified , or didn’t have the talents, time, or resources to accomplish what was being asked of you? Well, you’re not alone. There are lots of people today and even in the Bible who have felt the same way when God called them to their purpose. The beautiful thing is, God takes what you have – what He has already given you – even if it seems to be hardly anything, and can use that "little" to accomplish a whole lot. In this week’s episode I’m talking with Dr. David Laton, about how to use what God has already given you, even if it doesn’t seem like much or enough, to fulfill your God-given purpose. This can happen on a personal level, but it happens at work, at school, at church. And just think of all the unsolved problems on a national and international level as well. But the solution is more than just finding a way to get all these problems resolved. Believe it or not, it’s more about how you see yourself . Because how you see yourself has a huge influence on how you act, interact and react with other people and situations, and how you resolve problems. In this week’s episode we’re going to talk about how seeing yourself from a spiritual perspective will help you see your life is not defined by all the unsolved problems in your life. Sometimes they define themselves by their past, either good or bad, their education, their social and economic status, their cultural, religious, ethnicity and/or country of origin. 296 – What if Jesus was interviewing people to work for him? Would you apply for the job? How would you get ready for the interview? Do you think Jesus would hire you? I know, it sounds kind of odd to even talk about this. But when someone asked me these questions, it got me to thinking. How did Jesus choose people to work for him? We call them his disciples. But they were working for him and with him. He gave them on-the-job training for three years. How does Christ choose people to work for him today, to follow him?
