Episode Description: Jessica B. Harris may have been born and raised in New York City, but she has Tennessee roots through her father and has spent much of her life split between homes in the Northeast and the South – specifically New Orleans. For more than fifty years, she has been a college professor, a writer, and a lecturer, and her many books have earned her a reputation as an authority on food of the African Diaspora, as well as a lifetime achievement award from the James Beard Foundation. A few years back, Netflix adapted her book, High on the Hog: A Culinary Journey from Africa to America , into a 4 part docuseries. And I’m very proud to say that she’s a longtime contributor to Southern Living with a regular column called The Welcome Table. This episode was recorded in the Southern Living Birmingham studios, and Sid and Jessica talked about her mother’s signature mac and cheese, the cast-iron skillet she’d be sure to save if ever her house were on fire, and her dear friend, the late New Orleans chef Leah Chase. One 40+ year old mom + One 11 year old Henry = Adventure This was never a planned thing. We live on a farm, Henry went to the local school. Life was normal. And then the pandemic hit. We switched to homeschooling, but that can be a lonely thing for a, then, 7 year old. So we began hiking the Bruce Trail which was, quite literally, in our backyard. Along the trails Henry met fellow kids and adults with a passion for the natural world around us. Soon we would lead groups of kids on adventures and the local papers would follow our pursuits. Whether with friends in tow, or just his mom along, Henry enjoys exploring and wants to share his passion with everyone! Henry's YouTube Channel Henry's Website…
Thibault Delacroix is an ultra-distance runner. He grew up in France but has made Australia his home the last few years and he's happy to say he is now an Australian permanent resident. Thibault's running journey began during his first few years living in Australia. It was the beginning of 2018 and he made the decision to give up smoking, this led him to start running as a distraction and he hasn't looked back! Over the last few years he has completed many races from marathons to a 100 kilometer ultramarathon, to 100 mile ultramarathons, and his desire to keep pushing limits continues. This year he had an ambitious goal of going for the title of Triple Crown Under Grand Master. The Triple Crown Under Grand Master consists of completing 3x 200 mile races within a calendar year. For Australia, the races are:• The Delirious WEST 200 miler February 2024,• The Irrational SOUTH 200 miler April 2024,• The Unreasonable EAST 200 miler August 2024. Thibault is proud to say that he completed the goal and even managed to reach the podium in each of the three races which was a big bonus! Thibault's next project will be creating a documentary about his running journey over this challenge and he will hire a videographer who can help put it all together. Thibaut has a Go Fund ME where any funds received will go towards paying the videographer. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated: https://www.gofundme.com/f/the-grand-master-australia…

SUPPORT THIBAULT on GOFUNDME What is Project24: Hi, my name is Thibault Delacroix and I’m a French man living in Australia. I spent the last 2 years in Tasmania running as much as I could, I was determined to train properly for long distance and this resulted in me finishing the Tassie Trail Fest 1oo mile race in 1st position 2 years in a row. My goal was to break the 24h mark. The 1st year I finished with a time of 24:52:34. After this I trained harder and smarter and the 2nd year I finally did it and finished with a time of 23:23:43. Now I feel ready to go even bigger and want to aim for 200 miles. After doing some research for races on the mainland, I discovered the title of “TripleCrownunder” and Project24 was born. TripleCrownunder consists of completing 3x 200mile races within a year. For Australia, the races are: • The Delirious WEST 200 miler February 2024, • The Irrational SOUTH 200 miler April 2024, • The Unreasonable EAST 200 miler August 2024…
