Traditional banks often lack personalized service, and local businesses struggle to find true partnership in financial institutions. Meanwhile, higher education faces scrutiny over relevance and ROI in a world where information is nearly free. Harry Allen helped launch Studio Bank to blend technology with high-touch service, fueled by community investment. At Belmont, he's applying the same entrepreneurial mindset to modernize university operations and embed practical learning experiences, like a one-of-a-kind partnership with Dolly Parton, into academia. In this episode, Harry L. Allen, co-founder of Studio Bank and now CFO at Belmont University, unpacks the bold vision behind launching a community-first bank in a city dominated by financial giants. He shares the leadership lessons that shaped his journey, how to lead through crisis, and why mentorship is the key to filling today's leadership vacuum. Key Takeaways Leveraging both financial and social capital creates a unique, community-first banking model. High-tech doesn't mean low-touch, Studio Bank fused innovation with personal relationships. Leadership means showing up, especially during crisis. Universities must shift from being information hubs to delivering real-world experience. Succession and mentorship are vital to cultivating the next generation of leaders. Chapters 00:00 Introduction to Harry L. There are so many chefs with so many stories and each of them are as unique as a fingerprint! I want to tell their stories and have fun while doing it. I'll share some of my stories too. The good, the bad and the ugly. I want to share the stories of those whose story hasn't been told yet- the grinders, the badasses and the everyday people that make your plates come to life! We'll definitely laugh along the way, we may cry, we may shock you too, but most importantly I'm gonna tell it like it is! I took a few minutes to ramble on what I've been up to lately. A little family vacation and a couple of weeks traveling for work. Shout outs to the crews at Certified Angus Beef, Daniel & Diana Clark and Wes Zimmerman in particular, and Broadleaf Game- Mark, Annie & Tim Mitchell. Thank you to all of you that helped educate me and help me gain knowledge in my field... Also for feeding me a lot of kick ass meals during the time I got to spend with each of your teams! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/support…

On July 20, 2019 I was given the opportunity to speak in honor of a great human being, Henry "Hawk" Levendusky. Hawk was the father of one of my best friends, David Levendusky, and through the almost 35 years that I knew Hawk he treated me like one of the family. David had asked me to read the beautiful words he'd written and to account in my own words the memories I had with his father. This is the recording of that. I was completely humbled and honored to be able to use my voice and memories as a conduit for my friend and his wonderful family. Hawk was one of the best people I've ever known and I am a better man for having had him in my life. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/support…

I was joined awhile back by my good friend and brother from another mother, Jeff Foehr. We had talked about getting back together and furthering our food and life discussion, but after I listened to our conversation several times I decided we had a pretty great chat. Jeff shared some great stories and we had some great laughs. His love for food and the food industry really come through. I hope you enjoy this episode. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/support…

Yolanda has such a fascinating story. I was completely in awe of her honesty, candor and willingness to share about some very intimate details of her life. From the loss of her grandmother when she was seventeen to the ups and downs of motherhood. Her story is an inspiring one and she definitely knows where she is heading. I really think you're going to enjoy her and you can follow her on Istangram: @ymonic --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/support…

I had a freaking blast taking with Chef Jordan Miller in the first live episode of the podcast. Jordan got his first exposure to kitchens at a very young age and has had an awesome journey to get to where he is today. Born in Texas, but moved to New Jersey at an extremely young age...Why don't I just let him tell you about his life? I can't begin to tell you how excited I am and how on fire I am with life!!! I have been formulating and marinating an idea for a documentary for a little while and it is coming to fruition. American Food will examine the lives of immigrant workers in the restaurant & food industries. My plan is to bring to light the people behind the scenes and behind the food that we eat on a daily basis in our favorite establishments. I want to dispel the myths that immigrant workers are taking jobs from people and actually how vital immigration is to our economy. I hope you get a sense of how passionate I am on this topic and join me on the journey. If you like this or any episodes of the podcast remember to subscribe. If I could ask for a favor- please give me a review and rate the show... I would greatly appreciate it! If you really like what I'm doing, then by all means, share it with friends and your inner circle. It's just lil' old me in this episode of the show. I wanted to get back to a good old style ramble. In this episode I talk about a couple of my recent blog posts- The Learning Curve & Cooking- or art. It was lighthearted and fun to go a little old school(I say old school as if I've been doing this forever!). In any case, I hope you enjoy this episode. If you want to check out the blog posts you can head over to https://www.fryerpod.com/ or you can take a look at each one individually; https://www.fryerpod.com/blog/2019/2/17/the-learning-curve https://www.fryerpod.com/blog/2019/3/21/wh90rxp8m1qmhf8vfkifl69xtkfwxf If you like this episode or any of my other episodes please subscribe, follow and share with friends. Please enjoy the third and final segment of the conversation with my good friend, Cori Cauble. I purposely left off an intro to this segment, because hey...what more can I say to introduce her. I mean, really, this is the third segment(that's a little tongue & cheek, if you're wondering). However, if I could offer a suggestion...Go back to part 1 and listen from start to finish. I feel it's the best way to take it all in and get the most out of our conversation. Cori's journey is an incredible one of perseverance, discovery and reinvention. My hope is that the rest of you will find her as fascinating and intriguing as I do. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/support…

This is part 2 of 3 of the interview I did with long time friend, Cori Cauble. Nowadays, Cori is a personal coach, pattern healer and Kundalini yoga instructor. In this portion of the interview we cover many things Long Beach like Jack of None and how we possibly crossed paths well before I turned 20. However, most importantly we discussed how she used her life's experiences to get her where she's at today. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/support…

Cori is a long time friend of mine. We met when I was about 20 years old and have been friends ever since. We had a brief stint as co-workers that we'll talk about, but most of the time I've known her has been as a friend. She is a pattern healer, wellness guide as well as a Kundalini yoga instructor. I've always enjoyed talking with her and this conversation is no different. We spent over two hours talking. Trust me when I say that we could have spent a great deal more time chatting it up. She has a wonderful soul, a great perspective on life and is just an overall beautiful human being. If you want to find out more about what she does and who she is visit her website: coricauble.com Due to the length of our chat I am breaking this conversation up into three parts. I hope you enjoy part 1. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/intothefryer/support…

I had an absolute blast talking with Allison! She is making big waves on the culinary scene in NYC. At 28 she has had a wealth of experience and has a great overall sense of her own direction. I’m going to say that you all will be hearing about her for years to come as she has set the bar pretty high for herself. If you ask me...I have no doubt she’ll become a household name for many years to come.
