There are many things in our life that we have no control over, be it how we are born, our skin color, gender, etc. However, this shouldn’t stand in the way of us and the opportunities that the world provides. Women’s rights issues and racism stem from systemic injustices and oppression, thus fighting for one should go hand in hand with the other. Debbie Pope is the CEO of YWCA Boulder, dedicated to eradicating racism and empowering women. Driven by her personal experience with MS through her mother, she is also the National Executive Vice President of Development at the National MS Society, helping families and patients deal with the condition.
